Needing rest as you battle this illness is
   not a sign of weakness.
It's your body helping you regain the energy
   you've lost since this journey began,
And conserving the strength you have left
   for the fight ahead.
But most importantly, it's the time God wants
   you to be still...
while He whispers to your soul.

Not everybody goes through the same illness
   but the emotions are still the same.
Anger threatens to hold your joy hostage.
And you barely recognize the person
   staring back at you from the mirror.
Your heart breaks from the weight of the depression
And suffering slowly forces you
   into a life of isolation.
You're taunted by the thought that God has left you,
   but He has not!
He is all around you...
He is love from a friend, and compassion
   from a stranger.
He is rest and He is the starlight that
   brings beauty to your night.

When you battle an illness for so long
   people understand that energy
      becomes a precious commodity.
But seldom do they think about what
   the day to day struggles do
      for one's self-esteem.
Value and purpose of life seems to
   decrease as exhaustion increases.
On days you feel like this
   remember, that to others...
You are an example of patience, strength,
   and courage.
And someone I greatly admire!

Definitions change when a person lives
  with chronic illness.
Getting out of bed every morning
  isn't waking up, it's strength.
Accomplishing the necessary chores of the day
  isn't housework, it's perseverance.
Needing rest isn't taking it easy
  it's recouping.
Doing this day after day
  isn't a routine it's overcoming.
And because you prevail people see
  that God's power is real.
